Combine a scenic drive to the charming village of Villa La Angostura with access to Cerro Bayo, one of Patagonia's most intimate ski resorts. Villa La Angostura itself is worth the visit independent of the skiing — a smaller, quieter lake-district village than Bariloche, with a genuine village atmosphere and its own lakefront views over Nahuel Huapi. Ideal in winter for skiing or in shoulder season for the village atmosphere and mountain views without needing snow at all. We arrange this privately with a driver-guide, which matters on the scenic route between Bariloche and Villa La Angostura — there are several worthwhile stops along the way that a fixed-schedule tour would skip. Operates July–September for the ski component. A good full-day alternative to Cerro Catedral for travellers who prefer a smaller, less crowded resort and a village to explore alongside it.

Ascent to Cerro Campanario by Chairlift
A short but spectacular chairlift ride to the summit of Cerro Campanario, rewarded with what many consider one of the most beautiful views in the world: lakes, islands, forests, and the Andes spread in every direction. The ride itself takes only a few minutes, but the panorama at the top — Lago Nahuel Huapi, Lago Perito Moreno, and the Llao Llao peninsula all visible in a single sweep — is why National Geographic once ranked this among the best views on the planet. There's a small café at the summit if you want to linger over the view rather than rush back down. Ticket only, with no transfers included, which makes this an easy addition to combine with the Circuito Chico loop or any other Bariloche day plan, since the base is directly on the lake-district driving route. A short but genuinely worthwhile detour, and one of the few world-class views in the region that requires almost no physical effort to reach.

Circuito Chico — Classic Lake District Loop
The definitive Bariloche half-day excursion: a scenic loop through the lake district passing Llao Llao Peninsula, Lago Perito Moreno, Punto Panorámico, and the legendary Llao Llao Hotel. The route itself is often cited as one of the most beautiful drives in South America, winding along the shores of Nahuel Huapi through native forest with the Andes as a constant backdrop. The Llao Llao Hotel, an architectural landmark since the 1930s, is worth the stop even if you're not staying there — its setting on the peninsula is one of the defining images of the Argentine lake district. Can be combined with the Cerro Campanario chairlift on the same day for the region's best single-day introduction. We recommend this as the first excursion for any first-time Bariloche visitor — it's the drive that explains why this region is considered one of Argentina's most beautiful, and everything else you do afterward builds on the geography it introduces.

Whether in winter for skiing or in summer for hiking and views, the resort's gondola delivers extraordinary Andean panoramas over the lake district and the peaks bordering Chile.
