Strap on crampons and walk on top of the Perito Moreno Glacier itself — one of the most exhilarating experiences in Patagonia. After a short boat crossing to the ice, certified mountain guides fit your crampons and lead you across the glacier's surface through a landscape of crevasses, seracs, and meltwater pools that simply doesn't exist anywhere near the boardwalks. The ice itself changes character underfoot — some stretches smooth and blue, others fractured and white — and the guides read the terrain in real time to keep the route both safe and genuinely interesting. The excursion traditionally ends with a glass of whisky chilled with glacier ice, a small ceremonial touch that's become part of the experience's identity. Minimum age 8 years, and a reasonable level of fitness is expected since the walk covers uneven ice terrain for roughly an hour.
