Journey to the Valle de Uco on the Bus Vitivinícola — Mendoza's most exciting wine region at over 1,000m altitude. The extreme altitude here produces wines with a distinct character from the lower-lying Luján de Cuyo and Maipú districts — cooler nights slow ripening and concentrate flavour in ways winemakers across the region increasingly consider the future of Argentine fine wine. Two circuit options visit producers including Zuccardi, ranked among the world's top 10 wineries, alongside Alfa Crux, Finca La Celia, and Cundo. Runs every Wednesday. The route we'd recommend first for serious wine travellers with only one Mendoza wine day to spare, given the calibre of the producers on this specific circuit.

Alta Montaña — Andean High Mountain Road
Drive one of the most spectacular mountain roads in the Americas: the Alta Montaña route following the Mendoza River gorge to the Chilean border at 3,200m. The route passes the Puente del Inca, a striking natural stone arch coloured by mineral deposits from the thermal springs beneath it, and Aconcagua Provincial Park, home to the Americas' highest peak at 6,962m — visible, conditions permitting, from a roadside viewpoint without requiring any climbing at all. The landscape shifts dramatically along the way, from Mendoza's green wine country to a stark, high-altitude Andean terrain that feels like an entirely different country. A strong full-day option for travellers who want to see genuine high-Andean scenery without the physical demands of Aconcagua's actual climbing routes, and a good complement to the wine-focused days most Mendoza itineraries otherwise consist of.
