Explore the colonial heart of San Salvador de Jujuy, one of Argentina's oldest and most culturally rich cities. Visit the historic cabildo where Argentina's national flag was first blessed, the cathedral with its gold-leaf pulpit, the government palace, and the artisan markets that reflect the region's deep indigenous heritage — a heritage that runs noticeably deeper here than in the more European-flavoured cities further south. We arrange this privately with a guide who can explain the layered history of a region shaped as much by Andean and Quechua culture as by Spanish colonization. A good first half-day for orienting yourself before heading into the more dramatic landscapes of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, and a useful counterpoint to Salta's more polished colonial centre a few hours south.

Journey through the spectacular Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed valley of extraordinary geological colour and deep Andean cultural significance. The valley's rock formations shift through reds, purples, and ochres depending on the mineral content and the angle of the light, a geological palette that's part of why UNESCO recognised the site. Visit the village of Tilcara, home to the Pucará fortress ruins — a pre-Incan settlement offering panoramic views over the valley — and the iconic Hill of Seven Colours near Purmamarca.
